At 4:30am this morning for some odd reason, I agreed to go on an early morning photowalk with two friends. We were to go downtown to catch the early morning sunrise from the Vancouver Convention Center. We setup at the convention center and after some contemplation, we decided that we’d get a better vantage point from Stanley Park. So off we went to capture the sunrise. Well the sunrise came and it wasn’t really spectacular. The cloud formations weren’t ideal and there wasn’t much color in the sky. After the disappointment of this mornings sunset, we decided to drive around and find other places to shoot. We ended up shooting photos for 5 hours at some of the sketchier parts of the False Creek area in a few abandoned warehouses that we found. dabu6o4 had brought sock monkey with him and “Sockie” was very willing to pose for a few photos around town.

It was a good turnout with about 13 of us taking in the sights and getting some photography practice in. Even got to check out the wonders of a 10 stop ND filter and a tilt shift lens (VERY COOL). Thanks to Jason for bringing that. Heck someone was even crazy enough to bring a 500mm telephoto lens to a photowalk (Ernie, I’m looking in your direction). We spent quite a few hours there and we didn’t even get to see everything! We’ll have to get another one going again, perhaps a night time photowalk. Here are some of my shots from that day.
