Taking in the Olympic Sights – Downtown Vancouver and Russia House

Today I went on a photowalk downtown to take in sights of the Vancouver 2010 Olympics. Elizabeth Manley and Katarina Witt were at Robson Square doing some performances. There was A LOT of media there, I saw Global TV,  News1130, Reuters, and Associated Press there just to name a few. Unfortunately I was too far away to get any good shots of them. We then walked down to the Telus World of Science which is now the Russia House pavilion which Russia will be hosting the 2014 Winter Olympics. I can’t wait to check out what they have in store in there during the Olympics. Here are some of the shots I took today

UBC Photowalk

Had the Volvo serviced today and had a few hours to kill. I went out to UBC with dabu6o4. The Thunderbird Stadium Olympic venue was all prepped and ready for February 12th.

Vancouver Strobist Workshop – Sarah

Last Saturday, I attended a Vancouver Strobist workshop. It took place at the Vancouver Photo Workshops, a local photography school. It was a seven hour workshop on strobism and provided insight as well as on hand practice of off camera lighting. It was quite informative and I can’t wait to get some more shooting in with my own set of lights. There were also a few models there to be our subjects. Here are some photos of the first model I was fortunate enough to work with.

Revscene Granville Island photowalk

On Sunday morning, I went out on a photowalk with some fellow Revscene photography forum members at Granville Island. It was a good turnout with about 13 of us taking in the sights and getting some photography practice in. Even got to check out the wonders of a 10 stop ND filter and a tilt shift lens (VERY COOL). Thanks to Jason for bringing that. Heck someone was even crazy enough to bring a 500mm telephoto lens to a photowalk (Ernie, I’m looking in your direction). We spent quite a few hours there and we didn’t even get to see everything! We’ll have to get another one going again, perhaps a night time photowalk. Here are some of my shots from that day.

Vancouver Night Photography

Went out a few nights this week with some friends for an evening photowalk. Since we work during the days, by the time we get going, it gets pretty dark out. I don’t mind though, I find night photography to be a lot of fun.
