So Mypublisher was having a promo of unlimited pages for $35 USD and as usual, I left it to the last few days of the promo before making my book. So I scrambled to get about 49 pages laid out into my book and sent it off Monday evening. Well talk about fast turn around time, it shipped out Tuesday night from New York and got to my work the next morning! This is the second book I have done and I decided to break it up into three sections. Landscape photos, urban photos and portraits. I also went with the no charge linen cover. The first book I made with Mypublisher was a glossy slipcover which while it looked great, it was a fingerprint magnet. The quality of the print job was so so. On some of the pages, there were artifacts on the paper and I’ll be calling them to see if I can get a reprint.

Last week, I decided to try making a photobook with some of my images. I’ve been wanting to do it for awhile but procrastinated about actually doing it. So after talking to dabu6o4 about photobooks, he told me about My Publisher. So I downloaded their software and started putting together a book. There was a promotion going on and it was buy one get one free. I completed the book last Saturday night and sent it off to get published. It got shipped out yesterday from New York and arrived at my work today! Pretty fast turn around! The paper they used is pretty good but then again I don’t have anything to compare it to yet as this is the first photobook I’ve ever printed. The print quality is alright, I noticed a little bit of banding but my coworkers thought the book looked great so to each their own.
Creative Process, print edition!
I decided to sell my Lowepro Slingshot 100 AW to my cousin last nite after I found a local store that sold a few Kata camera bags. Kata bags are a bit hard to find in Vancouver, at least I had a hard time finding their sling bag locally. If you don’t know, Kata’s founders come from a military background and manufacture a number of products including body armor for Special Forces around the world. Oh and they make camera bags too =). I picked up the 3N1-10 Sling bag. This bag could be slung around the left or right shoulders depending on your preference. You can also wear it like a backpack with both straps or have them criss cross around your chest for longer hikes. If you’re not using the other shoulder straps, they tuck in nicely into a hidden compartment in the back. Let me just say this bag is great. Its slightly bigger than my old Lowepro Slingshot 100AW but it has more pockets and I can fit more of my gear in.

we didn’t have no fancy shmancy 21 megapixel 1080p shooting cameras! I dug up some old cameras that I used to use. A really old Pentax SLR and an old HP Photosmart 1 megapixel digital camera that was given to me by a friend.
