Revscene’s Photowalk – Automotive Edition

March 15, 2011  |  Cars  |  , , , , , , ,  |  3 Comments

For the month of March, Richard organized an automotive photo meet. One which garnered a lot of interest from those who wanted to get some practice in automotive photography and those who wanted to have their rides photographed. Jason from Beau Photo brought out some Profoto gear to give many of us a chance to shoot with some professional lighting equipment. The weather was pretty dreary on Sunday with the forecast calling for wind and plenty of rain. We weren’t able to use a lot of the locations that Richard and I had scouted out a few nights earlier but we had a backup plan. Our setting would be the New Westminster covered parkade on Front Street. It would provide protection from the rain as well as an interesting locale for our shots. Thanks to Richard for organizing the meet, Jason for bringing gear to give us a taste of what the pro’s use, as well as the owners of the cars that let us take photos of their awesome rides.

A Photo Gallery of PNE Skate Park

March 6, 2011  |  Urban  |  , , ,  |  No Comments

Yesterday I went out in the morning for a few hours for a photowalk with my neighbor Peter. The weather was a bit overcast but the sun started to peek out by the late morning. We checked out New Brighton Park (which I’ll post a few photos in a later post) and the skateboard park by the Pacific National Exhibition in Vancouver. It was the first time I’ve been there where there was nobody using it so we were able to walk around freely inside the bowl. The surrounding park around the area is also worth walking around.

My new Photobook has arrived

February 10, 2011  |  Gear  |  , ,  |  1 Comment

So Mypublisher was having a promo of unlimited pages for $35 USD and as usual, I left it to the last few days of the promo before making my book. So I scrambled to get about 49 pages laid out into my book and sent it off Monday evening. Well talk about fast turn around time, it shipped out Tuesday night from New York and got to my work the next morning! This is the second book I have done and I decided to break it up into three sections. Landscape photos, urban photos and portraits. I also went with the no charge linen cover. The first book I made with Mypublisher was a glossy slipcover which while it looked great, it was a fingerprint magnet. The quality of the print job was so so. On some of the pages, there were artifacts on the paper and I’ll be calling them to see if I can get a reprint.
